Amb. 17.11.15; 2nd Fld. Amb. 1.1.16; T Col. 20.11.16; A.D.M.S. 5th Div. 23.11.16; Colonel 9.6.17; D.S.O., Cavalier of the Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus (Italian); Medaille de la Reconnaissance Francaise; five times in Despatches. Killed in action by a shell fragment at Broodseinde Ridge while going between two of his most advanced aid-posts on 17th October 1917. He was buried at Dickebusch.
