Eng. I l l : Lieutenant, Light Trench Mortar Battery, 9th Brigade, A.I.F., France. Enlisting 7th February, 1916, and sailing 13th May, was appointed sergeant 36th Battn. and sergeant-major for voyage. Commissioned lieutenant in September and, transferring to battery, crossed to France 2ist November and served till death. Killed in Action, near Armentieres, 23rd December, 1916, and buried in Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres. A.M.F. : Lieutenant, 35th Infantry. Early education at The King's School. Later at St. Paul's College.  I know that no man had higher ideals of honour and duty than your son . . . and his grave is cared for by his comrades, in whose memory he will ever live.
