GOSSE, WILLIAM HAY. 1898.
St. Peter's Coll., Adelaide; Trinity; former student of Medicine; rowing blue and stroke of College boat. Served throughout Boer War, and at its conclusion gained a commission in the R.F.A.; was on the reserve list, and left S.A. for England 2. 10. 14 as Lieut. RF.A.; joined 79th Bde. RF.A. in France in 1915, and served with it throughout; Capt. in 1916; Major in 1917; was awarded M.C. for his work during the operations from 24th June to 23rd July 1917. On 5th April 1918 he was fighting his battery against a strong German attack when a shell struck the frail roof of his command post, and killed him instantly. He was buried in the Military Cemetery at Varennes, 6 miles N.W. of Albert.
