B.A. : Sergeant, A.F.C., A.I.F., England. Enlisting 6th July, 1917, in 2nd Sportsmen's Unit, was attached as reinforcement to 59th Battn. and transferred to Laverton, Victoria, joining Motor Transport Section, A.F.C., 29th August. Sailing 30th October was, after further training at Wendover, Depot, appointed orderly-room sergeant there. Embarked for Australia in October, 1918, as orderly-room sergeant for duties at Point Cook and was discharged on unit's arrival in Australia on account of the Armistice. Early education at The King's, The Armidale and Sydney Grammar Schools. Later at St. Paul's College.
