George Howard Earp trained as an architect but on returning to Aus after his war service, became interested in the science of agriculture and farming. Although he never trained formally, he allowed government officials to use his property in Glenrowan to conduct agricultural experiments and used scientific techniques to manage and improve his farm. see, http://oa.anu.edu.au/uploads/obituaries/1451/earp_george_obit_1951.pdf
