Lieut.-Col. commanding 38th Btn. 10.2.16; transf. to General List, Colonel, 1.6.18. Organised and sailed with 38th Btn., and remained in the line in France as C.O. from October 1916 to 1.6.18; then appointed to command at B.D. Havre as Colonel; reorganised Aus. Depots at Havre, and appointed Commandant Aus. Base Depots France. After armistice reorganised depots at Havre for demobilisation, and was responsible for demobilisation of A.I.F. from France; this completed, reached England at end of July 1919, and Australia October 1919. D.S.O. 3.6.17; C.B.E. 3.6.19; Despatches 9.4.17 and 16.3.19.
