CONNELLY, ERIC WINFIELD. 1905.
Carlton College; Articled Clerks' course; three years in Junior Cadets; Lieut. 2nd Btn. Senior Cadets, three years; 2/Lt. 8th Inf. Btn. (Bendigo), three years.
18.9.14, 2/Lt. 7th Btn., A.I.F.; sailed 19.10.14; at Gallipoli landing 25.4.15, and wounded the same day; returned to Australia 21.12.15. Appointed Staff Captain 10th Inf. Bde. 1.5.16; sailed again 27.5.16; France 17.11.16; Ede. Major 6.2.17; Major 3.3.17; to Gen. Staff 3rd Div. 12.2.18. Awarded D.S.O. 28.12.17 for gallantry at Messines Ridge, where he was badly gassed; Despatches 7.11.17 and 8.11.18.
Wounded in action in France on 8th September 1918, and died of his wounds next day. (Brother of C. E. Connelly.)
