Mentioned in Orders for gallantry near Menin Road in September 1917. On 16th October 1917, at Tokio Ridge, near Passchendaele, he had established his dressing station in a German pill box; after ordering out his details he remained dressing a wounded man, and a shell burst inside the pill box, fatally wounding him; he died a couple of hours later.
