20. 12. 15, Pte. 10th F.C.E.; Sgt. April 1916; France November 1916 in charge of concrete work, construction of gunpits and artillery O.P's.; transf. to A.F.C. April 1917; Lieut. June 1917; in France with 69th Sqdn. August 1917. On 6th May 1918, while on dawn patrol, was shot down by three German planes near Villers-Bretonneux; he kept his gun going till the last, and was killed by the fall of the machine.
