Arts : Private, 2nd Machine Gun Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 17th September, 1915, and sailing 9th April, 1916, was in Egypt for a short period with 5th Training Battn. and then, crossing to France, served with 19th Battn. from 13th November at the Somme, Ypres and elsewhere, being wounded at Maul Trench, Somme, 28th February, 1917, and again at Peronne n th August. Transferring to 2nd M.G. Battn. 12th March, 1918, was gassed on the Somme 12th April, but on recovery returned to battn. and later matriculated from Australian Corps Central School, Rue, prior to demobilisation. Member of Teachers' College.
