M.C., M.B., Ch.M.; M.D. (Melb.) : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France and England. Enlisting 14th September, 1916, and sailing in January, 1917, joined 12th Australian Field Ambulance 29th July, being R.M.O. 46th Battn. from 10th September to 13th March, 1918, and of 48th from 10th August to 9th March, 1919. Later served at Harefield Hospital, No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, as O.C. A.A.M.C. Camp Fovant, and until demobilisation. Awarded M.C.* and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney High School. *  He moved forward with the assaulting troops under very heavy'fire, established his aid post and organized his stretcher-bearers, and was the means of saving many of the wounded. He carried out his duties under heavy fire with great skill and courage. ' '
