17.1.16; sailed 2.10.16, Pte. 7th Btn.; O.T. School Tidworth; to France 20.4.17; O.T. School at Balliol Coll. 7.7.17, passing second in School; Lieut. 31.10.17; France again November 1917.
On 17th April 1918, at Nieppe Forest, he was struck by a piece of H.E. shell, and taken to a Clearing Station, but died from loss of blood. He was buried in a small cemetery near Hazebrouck.
