SYDES, EDWARD JOHN. 1886.
Ormond; M.A., LL.B.; twelve years at the bar in Brisbane, and in 1903 joined the Jesuit Order.
13.6.17, Chaplain Capt.; sailed 14. 6. 17; attached 5th F.A. Bde. He was about to return as Chaplain with the Anzac leave draft (September 1918), but fell ill, and remained on duty till, at the end of October 1918, he was carried exhausted off the field, and sent to hospital in Rouen, and after- wards to Wandsworth, being unconscious nearly all the time. He died of bronchitis at Wandsworth Hospital on 15th November 1918.
