REID, JAMES MANSFIELD. 1906.
S. Melb. Coll.; B.C.E.; 1st class in Surveying I. (equal exhibition), Nat. Phil. I., and Surveying II., second class final5, runner up for Argus Scholarship; M.U.R. team 1908-9, and capt. of Faculty team 1909; constructional engineer, State Railways.
Enlisted as Pte. April 1915; transf. Engrs. in October; 2/Lt. in November; sailed 11.12.15; Egypt January-March 1916; Lieut. 1.1.16; France: to 2nd F.C.E., April 1916; Captain October 1917. Despatches April 1916; M.C. October 1917, for constructing strong points under heavy shell fire 20.9.17 and 4.10.17.
Wounded at Zonnebeke on 26th October 1917, after completing the construction of a strong point, and died four days later at 10th C.C.S. Buried in Lyssenthoek Military Cemetery, near Poperinghe.
