Sgt. in Senior Cadets; afterwards transferred to militia and obtained commission in 2nd Btn., 12th Inf. Regt..
17.3.16; sailed 1.7.16, Sgt. 40th Btn; wounded at Armentieres 16.12.16, and many months in hospital; to 69th Btn. 24.4.17; back to 40th Btn. 1.9.17, with promise of commission at first vacancy.
Killed in the attack on Passchendaele on 12th October 1917, aet. 21.
