14.9.15, Cpl. 12th Btn., later Sgt.; sailed for Egypt October 1914; landed on Gallipoli April 1915; 2/Lt. 10.7.15.
On the night of 6th August 1915, during the attack on Lone Pine, he was waiting in a wide trench (" Gun Lane ") to reinforce the 1st Bde. While at the head of his platoon, then being sent in to the trenches, he was hit in the head by a shrapnel bullet, and died in hospital at Malta on 18th August 1915, after being unconscious for three days.
