(Oxon.), F.R.A.C.P., F.R.San.I, Director of School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and Professor of Preventive Medicine : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and Palestine. Enlisting 12th December, 1915, and sailing 12th March, 1916, joined No. 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, Tel-el-Kebir, 12th April. Was appointed O.C. 7th Sanitary Section, Anzac Mounted Division 18th June, invalided from Maraket to No. 14 A.G.H., Cairo, 6th September and on leave to England from 3rd October to 30th December. Served at Romani, Rafa, Gaza I and II, Amman, Es Salt and final Trans-Jordan campaign. Put in charge of Anzac Clearing Station 18th September, 1918. Became D.A.D.M.S. Anzac Mounted Division at Kantara from 27th April to 3rd July, 1919. Promoted Major, 11th February, 1919. Awarded O.B.E. in December, 1919, and Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : Assistant Director of Hygiene, 2nd District Base, Sydney, 1921-29. Rhodes Scholar. Early education at St. Andrew's College, Bendigo. Later at Trinity College, Melbourne.
