B.A., LL.B. : Lieutenant, 2nd Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 12th January, 1916, and sailing 1st July with 20th Reinforcements, was promoted acting sergeant, but reverted to private in France. Was subsequently sent to Officers Training School, Balliol College, Oxford, and commissioned second-lieutenant in May, 1918. On 8th August detailed for special duty and mortally wounded on 23rd. Killed in Action, Proyart, 24th August, 1918, and buried in Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres. Prizeman Political Science. Vice-President Evening Students' Association, 19 11- 12 . Hon. Secretary, Union, 1912, and Law Society, 19 10 - 11. Early education at Balmain and Lithgow Public and Dubbo Grammar Schools.  A man of high ideals and deep religious faith, living . . . with few words about them and a man of strong personal charm as well as great public spirit.
