B.A., Administrative Staff (Library) : Lieutenant, 45th Battn., A.I.F., France and England. In 1914-15 was a mobilised officer on staff of C.O., Sydney Defended Port and 6th East Sydney Bde. Enlisting 1st February, 1916, and sailing 9th April, served with battn. from June to the Armistice, except for six months in No. 4 London General Hospital, after being wounded at Pozieres 8th August. Was Adjutant 4th Training Brigade Demobilisation Depot from February to March, 1919, and Assistant and Acting Staff Captain, No. 4 Group, from April to August, returning as Adjutant, troopship  Port Denison  . Early education at Redfern Superior Public School.
