Enlisting 14th December, 1915, and sailing 9th April, 1916, served as M.O., Isolation Camp, Tel-el-Kebir, from May, and at No. 2 Australian Stationary Hospital from 28th June. Joined 4th A.L.H. Field Ambulance 19th February, 1917, and No. 14 Australian General Hospital, Port Said, 26th July, 1918, being Registrar from January to May, 1919. Then was with 3rd A.L.H. F.Amb. till demobilisation. Promoted major, n th November, 1918. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew's College.
