O.B.E., C. de G., M.B. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 19th October, 1914, and sailing 14th December with No. 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, went to Lemnos and was temporarily employed on troopships, conveying wounded to Alexandria and troops to Anzac, and later at Gallipoli, whence invalided to England in November. Rejoining hospital in March, 1916, was invalided to Convalescent Depot, Ras-el-Tin, and, crossing to France in November, was with No. 1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station till 8th November, 1917, and then C.O. No. 2 A.C.C.S. till the end of the War. After three months' non-military employment returned as S.M.O. troopship Boorara . Awarded O.B.E. 3rd January, 1919, and C. de G. in 1918 and Mentioned in Despatches three times. Early education at Mudgee Grammar School.
