Greta Towner was not listed in the University's 1939 Book of Remembrance. She has been added to the database because she is listed as a student of Pharmacy in 1920 at The University of Sydney. She is noted as having passed the practical examination only and is not listed as enrolled in any other subjects. Greta enlisted with the Australian Army Nurses Service on 22 July1915. Embarked on RMS Orontes on 31 July 1915. Served at the 1st AGH Heliopolis Cairo 11th March 1916. Arrived Number 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, Lemnos on 17th September 1915. Departs Lemnos on 24th January 1916 on the Demonsthenes for Australia. Listed as embarking on the HMAT Kyarra A55 ,June 1916 from Brisbane. Then listed as embarking out of Sydney on HMAT Kyarra on November 17 1916. Arrived in London in January 1917 and assigned to No 2 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Southall England.On 2 March1917 she arrives in France at the 8th Stationary Hospital, Rouen.On 27 September 1917 she is posted to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Rouen. Officially discharged on 4th July 1919.
