Med. I : Lieutenant, 3rd Battn., The King's Liverpool Regiment, B.E.F., France. Holding an A.M.F. commission in 26th Infantry was attached, while on a visit to England to the King's Regiment at Aldershot in July, 1914. Volunteering 3rd August, was promoted lieutenant in February, 1915, and crossing to Havre Base with 3rd King's, went to the Front with a draft to 1st Battn. in March, being later invalided to Rouen Military Hospital. Returning to regiment at Bethune early in May, served till death. Killed in Action, Festubert, 17th May, 1915. Commemorated in Le Touquet Memorial. Member of S.U. Scouts. Early education at Tudor House, Moss Vale, and Sydney Grammar Schools.  If the boy had been selfish enough to think of himself only he could have taken cover . . . instead of which he remained in the open until his last man was in.  So ended with honour a career honourably begun.  All the men were very sorry for he never asked us (the men) to go anywhere unless he led us.
