Enlisting 25th April, 1916, and sailing 25th October, trained as signaller at Hurdcott and, crossing to France in May, 1917, served at Ypres, Wyschaete Ridge and Villers-Bretonneux, where gassed 20th April, 1918, and until demobilisation. Member of Teachers' College.
