Enlisting 23rd May, 1918, and sailing 19th June, trained with 54th Battn. and then, transferring, served with H.Q., 11th Field Artillery Brigade, for two months until returned for early demobilisation under A.I.F. Education Scheme. Early education at Grafton High School.
