O.B.E., M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, R.A.M.C., B.E.F., France and England. Enlisting as lieutenant and sailing 23rd March, 1915, served as R.M.O. 78th Field Artillery Brigade for twelve months, though slightly gassed in Ypres salient 19th December. Then was Surgeon Specialist, Bethnal Green Military Hospital till demobilisation in England. Mentioned in Despatches twice and congratulated by letters from Major-General Pilcher, H.Q., 17th Division, for  excellent and gallant work in Ypres salient. Freeman of the City of London. Early education at Sydney High School.
