M.C., M.B. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, France and England. Enlisting n th May, 1915, and sailing 16th June, proceeded almost at once to Gallipoli, remaining there until the Evacuation. Crossing from Egypt to France in June with 14th Australian Field Ambulance, was present at all engagements until the end of 1918, when appointed D.A.D.M.S. 5th Division, serving until demobilisation. Promoted major, 20th June, 1917. Awarded M.C.* for work on 22nd December, 1916.Early education at East Maitland Public and Sydney High Schools. *  He brought several wounded stretcher-bearers into the dressing station under very heavy fire, thereby undoubtedly saving many lives.

Owned a home in Double Bay designed by Prof. Leslie Wilkinson as did Dr HA Sweetapple his neighbour.
