M.C., M.B., Ch.M. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, England and France. Enlisting 20th November, 1915, and sailing 15th December, was at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Ghezireh, till February, 1916, R.M.O. n th Field Artillery Brigade till September, and then at Salisbury Plain till July, 1917. Returning to France, served with 1st and 4th Australian Field Ambulances till demobilisation, being R.M.O. 15th Battn. till October, 1918. Awarded M.C.* and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at St. Joseph's College. * During the later stages of an advance, when the infantry were under heavy fire, he established his aid post in an advanced position, and dealt very rapidly with the casualties. His initiative and coolness under heavy fire were an inspiration to all who came in contact with him.
