M.B., Ch.M. : Staff-Sergeant, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and Gallipoli. Enlisting 14th October, 1914, and sailing in December with 4th Australian Field Ambulance, served in Egypt and Gallipoli until July, 1915, when wounded and unfitted for further service, returning to Australia in February, 1916. Mentioned in Special Despatches. Early education at Maitland High and Newcastle Collegiate Schools. Later at St. Paul's College.
