Enlisting 28th October, 1916, and sailing 10th May, 1917, with A.A.M.C. reinforcements, served at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, from n th October. Then joining 10th Australian Field Ambulance, was R.M.O. 31st Battn. from 24th October, 1917, to 3rd May, 1918, when transferred to n th A.F.Amb. Gassed 27th May but returned to duty in June, serving until demobilisation. Promoted major, 1st July, 1918. A.M.F. : O.C. 7th A.F.Amb., 1930-34. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School.
