Enlisting in February, 1915, and sailing 15th May, served with No. 3 Australian General Hospital at Mudros, Abbassia, Brighton and Abbeville till February, 1918, and then with 20th, 42nd and 2nd Casualty Clearing Stations until demobilisation. Promoted major, 29th January, 1919. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew's College.
