M.C., B.A. : Lieutenant, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, B.E.F., France and Italy. Enlisting on the outbreak of War in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, served till wounded at Battle of Ypres I, and transferred upon recovery to King's Own Yorks. Returning to the Western Front, hurried with regiment to Italy to stem the Austrian attack. Awarded M.C. in 1918 and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at St. Ignatius' College. Later at New College, Oxford, and Inns of Court, London.
