D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, England and France. Enlisting in August and sailing 14th November, 1914, served at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Mena, being Secretary and Registrar from March, 1915. Appointed Staff Officer Medical Services, Cairo- temporary major—ist January, 1916, and later A.D.M.S., being transferred to London in November. Crossing to France 26th February, 1917, as major, second in command 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, served till slightly wounded and gassed at Ypres. On recovery went to No. 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station 17th September, 1918, as Surgeon, No. 1 Surgical Team, returning on“ 1914 Leave ” in December. Awarded D.S.O. 3rd June, 1918, and
