Enlisting early in 1915 and sailing 20th April as lieutenant R.A.M.C., was promoted after twelve months' service, returning via Canada 23rd December, 1917. Re-embarking via Panama in September, 1918, served until demobilisation, for the last six months with Army of Occupation at Cologne. Awarded M.C. and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
