B.E,. B.A., M.B., Ch.M.; D.P.H. (Camb.), F.R.A.C.S. : Lieutenant-Colonel, N.Z.A.M.C., N.Z.E.F., Salonika and Egypt- Enlisting at Napier 4th April, 1915, and sailing 21st May as senior Captain No. 1 N.Z. Stationary Hospital, established it at Port Said in July and moved to Salonika in October. Transferring to Egypt, returned in charge of hospital ship  Manganui  in June, 1916. Appointed Surgeon in Charge, Trentham Base Hospital in October and P.M.O. Trentham Base Camp 22nd September, 1917, serving until demobilisation. Promoted major, 5th November, 1916; lieutenant-colonel, 22nd September, 1917. Early education at St. Joseph's College.
