Econ. : Driver, 2nd Divisional Ammunition Column, A.I.F. France. Mobilised at South Head Forts and Hawkesbury River Bridge Guard prior to enlisting 6th July, 1916, in A.A.M.C. Transferring to Artillery 19th November and sailing 10th May, 1917, served in France from 9th October till wounded and gassed at Westhoek Ridge 19th November. Rejoining unit 19th March, 1918, after being at No. 24 Australian General Hospital, Etaples, and Convalescent Camp, Cayeux, fought at Mont St. Quentin, Peronne, Bellicourt, Hindenburg Line and Busigny till 19th October, 1918. Returned 9th January, 1920.Early education at Sydney Preparatory (Dux) and Grammar Schools.
