M.C., M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 1st March, 1916, and sailing on 16th, served at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, from 18th April and as R.M.O. 54th Battn. from 30th April, 1916, to 1st January, 1917. Returning to Australia, re-embarked 10th May, joined 3rd Australian Field Ambulance 16th August, and was R.M.O. 2nd Artillery Brigade from 10th September at Ypres, Messines Ridge, Hazebrouck and the Somme till death. Awarded M.C.* 18th January, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. Killed in Action near Peronne, 3rd October, 1918, and buried in Roisel Communal Cemetery Extension. Early education at Cooerwull Academy. Later at St. Andrew's College. *  When the enemy concentrated a heavy fire on a battery, one officer and five men being wounded, at great personal risk he went out under this fire to get them to a place of safety.
