M.B., Ch.M.; F.R.C.S. (Edin.), F.R.A.C.S. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., England and France. Enlisting 23rd February, 1917, and sailing 24th April, served at training depots in England till March, 1918. Then crossing to France, was R.M.O. 6th Gordon Battn. (51st Highland Division) and later of 59th Battn. A.I.F. and with 14th Australian Field Ambulance till after the Armistice, returning in August, 1920, after being Senior Resident Surgeon, Royal Infirmary, Manchester. Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F.: O.C. 14th A.F.Amb. 1934-. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
