Gained Certificate i a at Gosport School of Special Flying; promoted flying-officer, 28th July, 1916; temporary captain and flight-commander, 29th July, 1917; captain, 1st April, 1918. Awarded M.C. and A.F.C. and Mentioned in Despatches twice. A.D.C. to Governor of N.S.W., 1915. Pre-War, A.M.F. : Commission in 26th Infantry. Early education at St. Ignatius' College.
