Enlisting 20th August, 1915, joined 6th Australian Field Ambulance 12th January, 1916, and, crossing to France n th March as R.M.O. 2nd Pioneers, served at Armentieres, Somme, Bullecourt, Ypres, Dernancourt and elsewhere until the Armistice. Transferring to 7th A.F.Amb. 15th February, 1919, and to 5th on 19th March, appointment terminated in United Kingdom 9th May, 1920, after non-military employment in 1919. Promoted major, 12th October, 1917. Awarded M.C. 1st January, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches.
