Arts : Lance-Corporal, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, England and France. Enlisting 10th June, 1915, and sailing 29th July, was stretcherbearer at Gallipoli till 4th December, when wounded and evacuated to No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Cairo. Was Dispenser, Prisoner of War Camp, Maadi, from January to July, 1916, and at No. 1 Command Depot, Weymouth, from August to March, 1917. Applying to be sent back to the Line, was transferred to 16th Australian Field Ambulance then forming in England and in October to 3rd A.F.Ambulance at Poperinghe, serving until gassed in Ypres-Comines Canal sector 6th March, 1918, and evacuated to Boulogne. Rejoining unit 26th April, remained with it till January, 1919, and organized its Education Scheme and then attended Australian Corps School, Rue, until demobilisation, taking Matriculation Course. Early education at St. Olave's Grammar School, London. Later at Hereford House.
