M.D., Ch.M., F.R.C.P., F.R.A.C.P.: Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 1st March, 1916, and sailing in April, was M.O. hospital ship Karoola as captain in 1916, and as temporary major and adjutant in 1917. Was at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, from December, 1917, to March, 1918, and then joined 4th Australian Field Ambulance, serving with it till November, when appointed Acting D.A.D.M.S. 4th Division and of Corps from December till March, 1919, returning for demobilisation after Educational leave in England from May to October. Awarded Medaille des Epidemies (en argent) and Mentioned in Despatches. Lecturer in Clinical Medicine. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew's College.
