Arts II : Corporal, 54th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 31st August, 1915, and sailing 8th March, 1916, with 15th Reinforcements 2nd Battn., joined 54th in Egypt 20th April and, crossing to France in June, served till death. Killed in Action, Fleurbaix, 20th July, 1916. Commemorated in Fromelles Memorial. Early education at Hornsby and Dubbo Public Schools and Newington College (Dux).  In the dawn of a splendid manhood he gave himself, his greatest gift, and wrote as he faced the firing line ‘"I  am where I think I ought to be and where I believe God
means me to be, and I have no fears for the future for I am in His care"
