Sci. : Sub-lieutenant (R.A.N.R.), R.A.N.; also Sapper, 4th Field Coy., Engineers, A.I.F., France. Enlisting in August, 1914, and sailing on 18th, served as petty officer R.A.N.R. in New Guinea till invalided back in February, 1915. Then after service with R.A.N. in Australia in 1916, joined A.I.F. 19th February, 1917, and, sailing in August, served with coy. till demobilisation, although wounded at Villers-Bretonneux in May, 1918. Early education at Sydney Technical High School and The Scots College.
