O.B.E., B.A., Law I : Captain, 5th Pioneer Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting 26th August, 1914, and sailing in September as sergeant 1st A.L.H. Field Ambulance, took part in Gallipoli Campaign. Returning in August, 1915, was appointed lieutenant and quartermaster in 2nd Remount Unit and, re-embarking in November, transferred to 5th Pioneer Battn. in Egypt 22nd April, 1916. Crossing to France in October, was adjutant on the voyage from Alexandria to Marseilles, and served till demobilisation. Promoted captain, 29th November, 1916. Awarded O.B.E. 1st January, 1919, and Mentioned in Despatches four times. Early education at Sydney Grammar School Later at St. Paul's College.
