B.E. : Sergeant, 24th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 6th June, 1916, and sailing 31st October, joined battn. in April, 1917, and fought at Bullecourt, Menin Road, Broodseinde Ridge and Zonnebeke, where wounded 4th October, and evacuated to hospital for a few weeks. Then served at Warneton, Millencourt, Ville-sur-Ancre, Hamel, Chuignolles and Montbrehain. Transferred to A.F.C. for training 12th November, 1918, but training being, abandoned on account of the Armistice, rejoined unit at Charleroi, 3rd December, and acted as Interpreter and Instructor, A.I.F. Education Scheme, returning 12th January, 1920. Early education at Parramatta High School.
