M.H.R., F.R.G.S., Arts : Lieutenant, 6th Battn. and 6th A.L.H. Regt., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 1st October, 1914, and sailing in December as squadron quartermaster-sergeant 6th A.L.H. Regt., transferred to 6th Battn. at Anzac 12th September, 1915, and promoted second lieutenant, 3rd October. Wounded and evacuated to London, returning to Australia on three months'' sick leave in 1916. Re-embarking 17th November, rejoined battn. and was promoted lieutenant 12th May, 1917. Wounded again at Menin Road 20th September, and invalided to Australia, arriving 4th September, 1918, appointment terminating 30th January, 1920. Early education at Sydney High School. Later at St. Paul's College.
