B.A., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., D.M.R.E. (Liv.) : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and Gallipoli. Enlisting 20th August, 1914, and sailing 20th October as major, served as R.M.O. 1st A.L.H. Regt. until April, 1915. Going to Gallipoli with reinforcements to 2nd Australian and New Zealand Brigade and landing at Cape Helles 8th May, joined 2nd Australian Field Ambulance and attended casualties of 29th Division (British) from Battle of Krithia all through the night. After being temporary R.M.O. 5th Battn., proceeded to Anzac with 2nd Brigade, transferred for a short time to 4th Battn. and after the Battle of Lone Pine was R.M.O. 2nd Battn., going with it to Lemnos in September but was invalided to England and Australia, arriving in December. Mentioned in Despatches twice. Also served in South African War. Early education at Coreen College, Woollahra, and Sydney Grammar School.
