M.M., B.Sc. : Lieutenant, General List (Education Service) and 36th (Australian) Heavy Artillery Brigade, A.I.F., France. Enlisting 8th October, 1916, and sailing 19th December, arrived in France 12th July, 1917, and joined 54th Siege Battery (later 1st Aust.) at Oost Dunkerque on the 19th. Served as battery signaller till the Armistice at Ypres, Ploegsteert, Neuve Eglise, and Ypres to Dottignies and afterwards was instructor under A.I.F. Education Scheme. Promoted extra-regimental sergeant, 30th November, 1918; second-lieutenant, 17th February, 1919; and lieutenant, May. Early education at East Maitland High School. Later at Teachers'' College.
