M.C., M.B. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Palestine. Enlisting in January, 1916, and sailing in July, served for two months in Egypt with 2nd A.L.H. Field Ambulance. Then was R.M.O. 5th A.L.H. Regt. at Katia, Gaza, Es Salt, Amman and elsewhere till demobilisation, though wounded at Amman 25th September, 1918. Promoted major, March, 1919. Awarded M.C. 1st January, 1919, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew''s College.
